Program Format

The following outlines the process for entering and completing the treatment program at the PWC:
Step 1 – A call to the clinic where the patient can make arrangements themselves or the family doctor can refer the patient (download referral form). If a referral is made, the family is then contacted to set up an appointment for a full team assessment.
Step 2 - Full team assessment with the clinic’s pediatrician, psychologist, nutritionist, and physical trainer.
Step 2b - Child and family meet with the pediatrician and psychologist to review the results of the full team assessment.
Step 3 - Once the initial assessment is complete, a decision is made by the child/youth, the family, and the treatment team whether to enroll in the program based on suitability.
Step 4 - If the Clinic is a fit for the child/youth, the family chooses to enroll in the full treatment program, the modified treatment program, individual sessions with any of the clinicians, or to participate in periodic medical follow-ups with the pediatrician only.
Step 5 - Once the treatment program is complete, the child and family have the opportunity to continue with additional sessions if they desire or if the treatment team and family determine additional sessions are needed.
